Due to its strategic position, Osijek was always in the centre of interest and conflict. From the bloody battle of the roman Czar Constantin with the Czar Magno Magnentie under the walls of the fortification of the town of Mursa on the Roman limes in the year 350, through the battles with the Turkish Osmanly army in the 17th century up until the Serbian aggression in the year 1991. Days full of eulogies, funerals and tears, when town was encircled by tanks and guns, constantly under fire of cannons, multi-barrelled rocket launchers and aircrafts.
